Tung Chung locates on Lantau Island, a place where many locals would like to hike and climb the mountain at weekends. To most non-local tourists, Tung Chung, near the airport, has the biggest outlets market of famous brands in Hong Kong thus it is convenient to shop there.

The Tung Chung metro station is linked to Ngong Ping 360 (cable cars). After going out from exit B, I came across a square with fountains.

I found Tung Chung a place full of "sense of capitalism" when I came out of the metro station. It is unusual because most stations that near coasts or on outlying islands are perceived as "tourist attractions"(e.g. Cheung Chau) or "relaxing natural spots"(e.g. Sai Kung and Sunny Bay). A plausible reason is that Tung Chung is, on the one hand, a new town that underwent marine reclamation and was designed to support the airport for tourists, on the other hand, a recreation for locals spending their weekends. But this cannot explain the whole thing. Tung Chung is supposed to be not so "capitalist" according to its location, essentially.
Later, I visited the Ngong Ping 360. Yet it was still under maintenance thus did not open to passengers. Nevertheless, I tried to take some photos of the cable cars.

On the way to the Piers, I found some sceneries.

The following two photos of the cable cars are my favorite and I even posted them on my SNS with a caption of one line of Du Fu's poem (“星垂平野阔”--杜甫《旅夜书怀》)

(I am rather obsessed with the feeling of openness and solitude in the nature and urban space.)
